Hi Luigia,
there is currently no obspy plugin to read .mat files. Is there a specification for seismological matlab files, e.g. how the start time, the sampling rate, the SEED identifier, the actual data, … is actually stored in the file. Than it is simple to write a new obspy plugin to read the .mat files and obspy-scan will work with it. Scipy can read .mat files so it would be easy to do.
